NQDVRS provides a daily Court Support Service for women seeking Domestic Violence Protection Orders, and escaping violent situations. Domestic Violence Protection Order Applications are heard weekday mornings at the Magistrates Court at 9:30 AM.  The role of the NQDVRS Court Support Worker is to provide women with support, information, and referral to appropriate agencies if necessary.  

Our aim is

bullet

To provide court support at the Magistrates Courts in Townsville and Mt Isa;

bullet

To provide support at the court immediately before and during mentions and hearings of protection order applications for victims where possible;

bullet

To appropriately refer victims to relevant services;

bullet

To conduct crisis counselling at the court if necessary;

bullet

To provide information about Protection Orders, the court process, application of Protection Orders and access to relevant resources;

bullet

To help victims to access safety in the Magistrates Court Building.
